Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) has closed another major road to manage traffic during ongoing construction work. The closure affects the route from Rawal Dam Chowk towards Serena Hotel from November 3.
Authorities have imposed the restriction because of construction work on the Kashmir Chowk underpass. The road will remain closed until further notice.
However, traffic moving from Kashmir Chowk towards Rawal Dam Chowk and Faizabad will continue normally. Commuters should follow the official diversion plan to avoid unnecessary delays.
Alternative Routes Announced for Commuters
The traffic police have advised motorists to use alternative routes during the closure. People travelling from Aabpara towards Rawal Dam Chowk and Park Road should take Garden Avenue and Shakarparian Road.
Meanwhile, commuters travelling from Park Road and Faizabad towards Aabpara and Bhara Kahu should use Garden Avenue. They can then continue through Seventh Avenue and Srinagar Highway.
Traffic officers will remain deployed at important locations to guide motorists. Authorities have also advised commuters to follow instructions from traffic personnel.
Citizens Advised to Leave Earlier
The Chief Traffic Officer has urged citizens to leave their homes 20 to 25 minutes earlier than usual. This precaution will help commuters manage additional travel time caused by diversions.
Furthermore, the Islamabad Traffic Police will provide updates through its FM 92.4 radio service. Citizens can also follow Islamabad Police’s official social media accounts for the latest announcements.
The closure follows other traffic restrictions introduced around the capital. Authorities have also temporarily closed several entry and exit points leading to the Red Zone.
These restrictions affect Serena Hotel, NADRA Chowk and Express Chowk. Motorists can use Ayub Chowk, the Marriott Hotel route and Margalla Road to access the Red Zone.
Commuters should check traffic updates before starting their journeys. Following alternative routes and allowing extra time can help reduce inconvenience during construction activities.
