The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has approved a plan to procure four double-decker buses for tourism in Islamabad.
The decision was taken during a CDA Board meeting chaired by CDA Chairman Sohail Ashraf.
Four Buses Approved for Tourism
The CDA Board approved the procurement proposal to give visitors a new way to explore Islamabad.
The double-decker buses are expected to support tourism activities and improve sightseeing options across the capital.
The move is part of wider plans to develop Islamabad as a stronger tourism destination.
Major Margalla Hills Zipline Under Review
The CDA Board also discussed a proposal for a major zipline in the Margalla Hills.
A consultant will be hired to conduct a feasibility study and prepare the engineering design.
The proposed project has been described as a potential “world’s longest” zipline, although its final design and feasibility are yet to be determined.
Islamabad Master Plan Revision Also Discussed
The board also reviewed the long-delayed revision of Islamabad’s master plan.
The concerned wing was directed to conduct further work on procedures and technical parameters for the proposed changes.
Doxiadis Associates prepared Islamabad’s original master plan in 1960 and recommended revisions every 20 years. However, a comprehensive revision has not been completed.
The delay has created planning challenges as the capital’s population and built-up areas have expanded.
The board also discussed tax and duty exemptions for imported goods for the new convention centre.
It further approved consultancy services for the revamp and rehabilitation of Faisal Mosque.
