Samsung may be preparing one of its biggest Galaxy Ultra upgrades yet. Early leaks are already building excitement around the Galaxy S27 Ultra. From a redesigned camera system to a larger battery, the upcoming flagship could introduce several changes Samsung users have been waiting for.
The smartphone could arrive in early 2027, with reports pointing towards a January launch. Although Samsung has not confirmed its specifications, several leaks offer an early look at its expected features.
A New Look Could Transform the Galaxy Ultra Design
One of the most noticeable changes could involve the rear camera layout.
Leaked dummy units suggest Samsung may replace its familiar vertical camera arrangement with a horizontal camera bar across the back.
The phone could retain a 6.9-inch display, with dimensions similar to its predecessor. Samsung may also keep the built-in S Pen as part of the design.
Additionally, the company could introduce built-in Qi2 magnetic support. This feature would make wireless charging and magnetic accessories more convenient. However, Samsung has yet to confirm this addition.
Brighter Display Could Bring a Major Visual Upgrade
Samsung may introduce its next-generation M16 OLED display technology in the Galaxy S27 Ultra.
The upgraded panel could deliver better brightness, colour accuracy and power efficiency. Moreover, reports suggest Samsung wants to address brightness limitations associated with its Privacy Display technology.
As a result, users could enjoy better outdoor visibility and a more comfortable viewing experience.
Camera Changes Could Mean Fewer Lenses
Samsung may take a different approach to photography by removing the secondary telephoto camera.
Current leaks point towards a triple-camera setup featuring:
- 200MP main camera
- 50MP ultrawide camera
- 50MP telephoto camera with 4x or 5x optical zoom
However, reports differ over the telephoto camera’s final specifications. Meanwhile, variable optical zoom remains another possibility, although leaks have not confirmed it.
Bigger Battery and Faster Charging Expected
Battery capacity could finally receive a significant upgrade.
Leaks suggest the Galaxy S27 Ultra may feature a 5,700mAh battery. This would mark a notable increase over the 5,000mAh capacity in recent Ultra models.
Samsung could adopt silicon-carbon battery technology to increase capacity without making the phone considerably thicker.
Furthermore, the device could support 60W wired charging. Qi2 compatibility may also improve its wireless charging experience.
Snapdragon’s Next-Generation Chip Could Power the Flagship
The Galaxy S27 Ultra may feature Qualcomm’s next-generation Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 processor.
The chipset could deliver improvements in processing power, graphics and artificial intelligence capabilities.
Samsung may also introduce new Galaxy AI features alongside One UI 9 or One UI 9.5, based on Android 17. However, the company has not confirmed these software details.
When Will Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra Launch?
Samsung could launch the Galaxy S27 series in January 2027. Reports also suggest the lineup may include four models, with a new Pro variant joining the standard, Plus and Ultra versions.
The S27 Ultra is expected to lead the lineup with premium hardware, upgraded cameras and improved battery capacity.
For now, Samsung has not announced its official launch date, pricing or final specifications. Nevertheless, more leaks could reveal additional details as the expected launch approaches.
