Tensions between Iran and the United States have risen again after Tehran warned of a forceful response to attacks on its oil tankers.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guard navy said any future strike on Iranian commercial vessels would trigger a “heavy assault” on US bases and naval assets in the region.
The warning comes as the fragile ceasefire between the two countries faces renewed pressure.
US Strikes Raise Questions Over Ceasefire
According to Iranian media reports, the warning followed US strikes on two Iranian oil tankers. The United States said the vessels were trying to bypass its blockade on Iranian ports. As a result, fresh concerns have emerged about whether the month-old ceasefire can hold.
Although Washington insists the ceasefire remains in place, recent military actions suggest tensions are far from over.
IRGC Says Missiles and Drones Are Ready
In a separate statement, Brigadier General Seyyed Majid Mousavi said Iran’s missile and drone forces are fully prepared. Mousavi commands the Aerospace Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
He stated that Iranian weapons are already aimed at US targets across the Persian Gulf. “The missiles and aerospace drones are locked on the enemy, and we are waiting for the firing order,” he said. His remarks underscore Iran’s readiness to respond if the conflict intensifies.
Recent Clash Near Jask
The latest warning follows recent confrontations near the Iranian port city of Jask. Iranian sources claimed US forces targeted Iranian vessels in the area.
In response, the IRGC navy reportedly launched anti-ship ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and explosive drones. Iranian officials said the strikes caused significant damage and forced US vessels to retreat. However, no independent confirmation of these claims has been provided.
Strait of Hormuz Remains a Global Flashpoint
The renewed standoff has heightened concerns about security in the Persian Gulf. The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most important shipping routes. A large share of global oil exports passes through this narrow waterway.
Therefore, any military escalation in the area could disrupt energy markets and increase geopolitical risks.
Ceasefire Under Growing Strain
The ceasefire between Tehran and Washington was meant to reduce tensions. However, both sides continue to exchange warnings and military actions. Iran’s latest statement signals that any further attack on its shipping could trigger a broader regional confrontation.
As a result, the coming days may prove critical for stability in the Gulf.
