Eleven Pakistani fishermen released from Indian custody have returned to Karachi after spending time in detention, bringing relief to their families. The released individuals initially arrived in Lahore before authorities arranged their transportation to Karachi through Edhi ambulance services.
According to available details, India released a total of 14 Pakistanis from its custody. Of these, 11 fishermen reached Karachi, while two others reunited with their families in Lahore.
The return marks another development involving Pakistani fishermen detained by Indian authorities over maritime border violations.
Released Fishermen Reach Karachi
The fishermen travelled from Lahore to Karachi in ambulances provided by the Edhi Foundation. Meanwhile, four fishermen belonging to Karachi’s Mauripur area were also among those who returned following their release.
The transportation arrangements helped the returning individuals reach their hometowns after their release from Indian detention. Furthermore, families welcomed the opportunity to reunite with their relatives after their prolonged separation.
Two released Pakistanis were received directly by their families in Lahore, according to the available information.
One Released Pakistani Remains in Lahore
However, one individual remains in Lahore because authorities could not complete the necessary biometric verification. Reports indicate that the individual has a mental health condition, while the absence of biometric information prevented further travel arrangements.
Consequently, officials kept him in Lahore until the required identification formalities could be addressed. His situation remains separate from the arrangements made for the other released Pakistanis.
The latest release highlights the continuing issue of Pakistani fishermen held in Indian prisons after crossing maritime boundaries. Fishermen from both countries have faced detention over fishing activities near disputed maritime borders.
Their release and safe repatriation remain important humanitarian concerns for affected families. Meanwhile, the return of the 11 fishermen to Karachi has provided relief to their loved ones.
