Former prime minister Imran Khan’s sisters, Dr Uzma Khan and Noreen Niazi, face 30-day detention in Lahore.
Authorities took the two women into custody under the Maintenance of Public Order (MPO) law.
The action comes ahead of PTI’s planned September 27 protest and march towards Islamabad.
The development follows the detention of their sister, Aleema Khan, one day earlier.
Lahore Orders 30-Day Detention
Lahore Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Ali Ijaz issued the detention orders on September 20.
The orders cite the Punjab Maintenance of Public Order Ordinance, 1960.
Officials said Uzma and Noreen could threaten public safety and public order.
The orders also accuse them of involvement in the May 9 protests.
According to the administration, the two women encouraged party workers to damage public and government property.
Officials also accused them of mobilising supporters through social media and public meetings.
The authorities ordered their detention at Central Jail, Kot Lakhpat.
PTI Rejects Government’s Allegations
PTI strongly criticised the arrests.
The party called the action an abuse of authority and a violation of fundamental rights.
PTI Central Information Secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram also alleged that police took family members into custody.
PTI lawyer Awais Younas Chaudhry confirmed the detention of all three of Imran Khan’s sisters, according to reports.
Imran Khan’s son Kasim Khan also criticised the arrests.
He alleged that authorities entered the homes of family members and took them away.
However, independent verification of these allegations remains limited.
Detentions Follow Growing Political Tensions
The latest arrests come as PTI prepares for its September 27 protest.
The party plans nationwide demonstrations and a march towards Islamabad.
PTI says the protest aims to demand Imran Khan’s release and uphold constitutional rights.
Meanwhile, authorities have increased preventive measures against PTI supporters in Punjab.
Police have also detained several party workers and leaders in recent days.
District administrations have issued preventive detention orders against dozens of PTI workers under the MPO law.
Similar tensions have emerged in Islamabad ahead of the planned march.
The Islamabad High Court has ruled that political parties cannot occupy public roads, highways, interchanges, toll plazas or government buildings.
As a result, the government has pledged to prevent any disruption to public spaces.
The latest detentions have added further tension ahead of the September 27 protest.
