Pakistanโs National Incubation Centers (NICs) have supported more than 2,250 startups since 2017. The network has also contributed to job creation, investment, and business growth across the country.
According to data from the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, NIC-supported startups have generated more than 185,000 jobs. They have also recorded over Rs. 36.3 billion in revenue since the program began.
NIC Network Attracts Billions in Investment
The nationwide incubation network has helped startups secure significant funding from investors. So far, incubated businesses have raised more than Rs. 34.7 billion from local and international investors.
The figures highlight the growing role of startup incubation in Pakistan’s technology and entrepreneurship ecosystem. Moreover, the program has provided young businesses with opportunities to develop and expand.
Women entrepreneurs have also gained a significant presence within the network. Around 31 percent of incubated startups, or approximately 700 businesses, are women-led.
NICs Expand Across Pakistan
Ignite has established National Incubation Centers across the provinces and the federal capital. The network currently operates in Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad and Hyderabad.
The centers also offer specialized support based on local industries and emerging technologies. For instance, Rawalpindi has an aerospace-focused incubation center.
Meanwhile, Faisalabad hosts an incubator focused on agricultural technology. These specialized facilities allow startups to receive support that matches their respective industries.
A ninth NIC is also being established in Sialkot. The new center is expected to begin operations soon and further expand access to entrepreneurship support.
Pakistan Startup Fund Offers Equity-Free Support
Alongside the NIC network, Ignite operates the Pakistan Startup Fund. The initiative provides equity-free grants to eligible startups seeking to raise capital and expand their businesses.
Ignite has selected three startups in the latest round of investment grants. The funding model allows entrepreneurs to receive financial support without giving up ownership of their companies.
This approach can help startups manage early-stage funding challenges. At the same time, founders can continue scaling their businesses while retaining their equity.
Gaming and Animation Centers Strengthen Tech Skills
Ignite has also expanded its focus beyond traditional startup incubation. The organization established two Centers of Excellence for Gaming and Animation in Lahore and Karachi.
Both centers became operational in November 2025. They provide training, mentorship, and infrastructure for people pursuing careers in gaming and animation.
The centers aim to strengthen Pakistan’s talent pool in creative technology. Furthermore, they can help develop skills needed for the country’s growing digital economy.
Startup Ecosystem Continues to Grow
The expansion of NICs, startup funding programs, and specialized technology centers reflects Pakistan’s broader push toward innovation. These initiatives provide entrepreneurs with access to funding, mentorship, infrastructure, and professional networks.
With more than 2,250 startups already incubated, the NIC network has become an important part of the country’s entrepreneurship landscape. Its growing footprint could also create more opportunities for young businesses across different regions.
As the Sialkot center prepares to launch, entrepreneurs in another major commercial city will gain access to incubation facilities. Meanwhile, existing centers continue supporting startups and developing talent across Pakistan’s technology-driven sectors.
