Two passengers hoping to travel to the Netherlands have been arrested at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport. Immigration officials stopped their journey after discovering that the Dutch visit visas stamped on their passports were fake.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) identified the passengers as Qaiser Munir, son of Munir Ahmed, and Ali Hassan, son of Manzoor Ahmed. Both men were scheduled to travel to the Netherlands aboard Qatar Airways flight QR-629.
FIA Detects Fake Netherlands Visas During Immigration Checks
The FIA immigration team discovered the suspected visa fraud while checking the passengers’ travel documents. Officials found that the Netherlands visit visas on both passports were counterfeit.
Consequently, authorities stopped the passengers from boarding their flight and arrested them at the airport. The FIA then launched an initial investigation to establish how they obtained the documents.
Agent Allegedly Demanded Rs4 Million for Each Visa
Initial investigations revealed that both passengers had contacted an agent named Chaudhry Adnan Akmal Warraich from Gujrat. He had allegedly promised to arrange Dutch visit visas for Rs4 million per person.
According to the initial findings, each passenger had already paid Rs2 million in advance. They reportedly transferred the money directly into the agent’s bank account.
The investigation is now examining the alleged arrangement and the role of the individual who promised to secure the visas.
FIA Transfers Passengers for Further Investigation
Following their arrest, the FIA Immigration Lahore team offloaded both passengers from their scheduled flight. Officials subsequently handed them over to the FIA Anti-Human Trafficking Circle Lahore.
The specialised circle will conduct further investigations and pursue legal action in the case.
The incident highlights the importance of verifying travel documents before departure. It also serves as a reminder for prospective travellers to exercise caution when dealing with agents promising overseas visas.
