Rawalpindi Police Launches Regular School for Transgenders, Aiming for Inclusivity and Education Equality

Regular School

In a groundbreaking move, the Rawalpindi police have initiated regular school classes specifically tailored for the transgender population in the city. The pioneering classes are being conducted at the Islamia Higher Secondary School located in Liaquat Bagh.

This initiative marks a significant milestone, being the first of its kind in Pakistan, demonstrating a proactive effort to address the educational needs of transgender individuals. The Rawalpindi police, in collaboration with the district administration and the education department, has launched this endeavor with the initial enrollment of 52 transgender individuals in the school.

The primary objective behind establishing this school is to uphold the basic right to education for the transgender community. Notably, the Rawalpindi police have also taken a crucial step in creating the country’s inaugural Transgender Protection Center. This center has played a pivotal role in providing employment opportunities to over 100 transgender individuals, fostering a sense of dignity and inclusion.

The Rawalpindi police’s commitment to promoting education and inclusivity sets a commendable example for other institutions and communities across Pakistan. By championing equal opportunities and access to education, this initiative contributes to the creation of a more just and equitable society.

The effort not only empowers transgender individuals through education but also strives to dismantle societal barriers, fostering an environment where everyone can thrive, irrespective of gender identity.

This initiative reflects a positive shift in mindset and a departure from traditional norms, signaling a more progressive and accepting approach to the diverse needs of the community. As the first regular school for transgender individuals, it paves the way for increased understanding, tolerance, and respect for diversity in Pakistani society.
