QUETTA: Authorities in Balochistan have launched a major search operation after the Vice Chancellor and Pro Vice Chancellor of Gwadar University went missing while travelling to Quetta. The two senior academics were heading for an official meeting when contact with them was suddenly lost.
Abduction fears rise near Mastung
Prof Dr Abdul Razzaq Sabir, Vice Chancellor, and Dr Syed Manzoor Ahmed, Pro Vice Chancellor, were travelling in an official vehicle along with a lecturer and the driver. They lost contact near Kund Umrani area in Mastung district. University sources suspect that unknown armed men may have abducted all four occupants along with the vehicle. Police and security forces have begun intense search efforts in Mastung and surrounding Qalat areas.
Moreover, family members expressed deep concern over the safety of the missing officials. They remain worried as no one has claimed responsibility so far and no ransom demand has surfaced.
