The federal government has approved a monthly allowance of Rs2,500 for government employees holding degrees equivalent to an MPhil.
The Ministry of Finance issued a notification confirming the decision. The move extends an existing financial benefit to employees with recognised equivalent qualifications.
Allowance Effective From July 17
According to the notification, the new allowance will take effect from July 17, 2026.
Government employees who already hold MPhil degrees currently receive a monthly allowance of Rs2,500. The latest decision extends the same benefit to employees with equivalent degrees.
The Ministry of Finance clarified that the allowance will apply to qualifications considered equivalent to an MPhil. Therefore, eligible employees with such degrees can receive the monthly payment under the revised arrangement.
Government Extends Existing Benefit
The decision expands the scope of an allowance already available to MPhil-qualified government employees.
The ministry said the government has now formally recognised equivalent qualifications for the same financial benefit. This means eligible employees holding MPhil-equivalent degrees will receive Rs2,500 every month.
The notification sets July 17, 2026, as the effective date for the decision.
The development provides an additional financial benefit to government employees who have completed higher qualifications recognised as equivalent to an MPhil.
