The goods transporters have, once again, rejected increase in the prices of diesel. The All Pakistan Goods Transport Owners Association urged the government to revise prices after 15 days.
Association President Mohammad Awais Chaudhry said higher duties and taxes on diesel directly affect transporters and the general public.
Transport Costs Under Pressure
Speaking on Tuesday, Chaudhry said rising diesel prices increase goods transportation costs and freight rates across the country.
He warned that higher transportation expenses could also affect industry and trade.
Furthermore, he said ordinary citizens ultimately bear the impact of higher diesel prices through increased costs for essential goods.
Chaudhry stressed that the government must follow its written agreement and review diesel prices every 15 days.
He also urged authorities to provide relief to goods transporters instead of imposing additional financial pressure.
Transporters Previously Cut Freight Charges
Earlier, on August 20, the All-Pakistan Goods Transporters Association announced a 10 percent reduction in freight charges nationwide.
The decision followed a Rs32-per-litre reduction in diesel prices.
However, transporters have now raised concerns over renewed increases and their impact on operating costs.
The association urged the government to protect the goods transport sector from frequent hike in prices of diesel.
