Gold prices in Pakistan fell sharply on Monday, following a decline in international bullion rates. According to the All-Pakistan Gems and Jewellers Sarafa Association (APGJSA), the price of gold dropped Rs12,800 per tola to reach Rs438,136.
The decline also affected the price of 10-gram gold. Its price fell by Rs10,973, bringing the rate to Rs375,631.
Gold Prices Follow Global Market
The latest decline came as international gold prices also moved lower.
The international rate of gold fell by $128, reaching $4,156 per ounce. As a result, the decline in global bullion prices put additional pressure on domestic gold rates.
Gold prices in Pakistan often respond to changes in international bullion prices and movements in the local currency. Therefore, sharp changes in the global market can quickly affect local jewellery and investment rates.
Meanwhile, the domestic gold market had already recorded a decline during the previous session.
On Saturday, gold fell by Rs2,100 per tola, bringing the price to Rs450,936. Monday’s larger decline therefore extended the recent downward movement in local bullion prices.
Silver Prices Also Decline
Silver prices also recorded a decline in the domestic market. According to APGJSA rates, silver fell by Rs325 per tola on Monday. The precious metal reached Rs6,578 per tola. The latest movements come as investors continue to monitor global financial markets and changes in precious metal prices.
For local buyers and investors, further changes in international bullion rates could influence domestic prices in the coming sessions. However, currency movements and local market conditions may also affect the final price of gold and silver in Pakistan.
