Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S27 Ultra is drawing attention after a newly created dummy unit revealed its redesigned appearance alongside the Apple iPhone 18 Pro and Google Pixel 11 Pro. The comparison offers an early look at Samsung’s next flagship, highlighting changes to its rear camera design and overall appearance.
The dummy unit was created using leaked CAD files and photographed next to the Galaxy S26 Ultra and competing flagship smartphones. However, its final materials, colours and hardware remain unconfirmed.
Samsung Moves Away From Its Familiar Camera Design
The biggest change appears on the back of the Galaxy S27 Ultra. Samsung is reportedly replacing its familiar individual camera rings with a wider, rectangular camera module.
The new design looks somewhat similar to the camera arrangement expected on Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro. However, Samsung’s less rounded corners and different lens positioning keep its design distinctive.
The camera module also appears larger than the previous arrangement. Meanwhile, the lenses protrude slightly from the camera housing.
One Camera Could Disappear From the Setup
Samsung may also make a notable change to its camera system. According to early reports, the company could remove the 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom.
This would reduce the rear camera setup from four sensors to three. However, the removal may not significantly affect photography, as the existing 3x sensor reportedly offers limited advantages over digital zoom from the main camera.
Galaxy S27 Ultra Retains Familiar Dimensions
Despite the redesign, the upcoming flagship appears almost identical in size to the Galaxy S26 Ultra. Its overall dimensions are reportedly 163.76 x 78.25 x 7.97mm.
The comparison also highlights differences between Samsung’s design, Google’s Pixel 11 Pro and Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro.
Expected Launch Timeline
Samsung has not officially confirmed the Galaxy S27 Ultra’s launch date. However, reports suggest the company could unveil its next-generation flagship series in January or February 2027.
