A fresh spell of monsoon rainfall is expected to affect several parts of Pakistan over the coming days. The weather system is likely to bring rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds to multiple regions, while isolated heavy rainfall is also forecast in some areas.
According to the Met Office, moist currents from the Arabian Sea are continuously moving into the upper parts of the country. These currents are expected to strengthen by Saturday evening.
Meanwhile, a westerly wave is also likely to approach the upper parts of the country on Saturday. As a result, rainfall activity is expected to intensify in many regions.
Heavy Rain Forecast for Kashmir
Rain, windstorms, and thunderstorms, along with isolated heavy rainfall, are expected across several areas of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
The affected districts include Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, and Mirpur.
The wet spell is expected to continue from the night of July 10 until July 13, with occasional breaks.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Receive Widespread Rain
Several districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are also likely to receive rain, windstorms, and thunderstorms on July 11 and 12.
The forecast covers Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Malakand, Nowshera, Charsadda, Karak, Tank, Lakki Marwat, Swabi, Shangla, Battagram, Buner, Kohat, Kurram, Dera Ismail Khan, Bannu, Waziristan, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Peshawar, Mardan, and Hangu.
Some of these areas may also experience isolated heavy rainfall.
Rainfall Expected Across Punjab and Islamabad
Scattered rain, windstorms, and thunderstorms are forecast for Islamabad and several districts of Punjab on July 11 and 12.
The affected areas include Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Faisalabad, Khushab, Sargodha, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Sahiwal, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Nankana Sahib, Chiniot, and Okara.
Meanwhile, Noor Pur Thal, Bhakkar, Mianwali, Layyah, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Dera Ghazi Khan, Multan, Khanewal, Lodhran, Muzaffargarh, Kot Addu, Rahim Yar Khan, and Rajanpur are expected to receive rain from the evening or night of July 11 through July 12, with occasional gaps.
Gilgit-Baltistan Also Under Weather Alert
Rain, windstorms, and thunderstorms are expected in several parts of Gilgit-Baltistan.
The forecast includes Diamir, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghanche, and Shigar.
The weather system is expected to remain active from the evening or night of July 11 until July 13.
Isolated Rain Forecast for Balochistan
Northern and northeastern districts of Balochistan are also likely to receive isolated rain and thunderstorms.
The forecast covers Zhob, Sherani, Kohlu, Barkhan, Dera Bugti, and Khuzdar on July 11 and 12.
Sindh to Remain Hot With Rain in Selected Areas
Most parts of Sindh are expected to experience hot and very humid weather during the forecast period.
However, isolated rain, windstorms, and thunderstorms are likely in Tharparkar, Sukkur, Shikarpur, Larkana, Dadu, and Jacobabad on July 12 and 13.
The latest weather system is expected to bring much-needed rainfall to several regions. However, isolated heavy downpours may also increase the risk of localized flooding and weather-related disruptions in vulnerable areas.
