Fly Jinnah has become Pakistan’s largest domestic airline by passenger traffic, surpassing Pakistan International Airlines (PIA). The airline secured the leading position during the 2024-25 financial year.
According to Civil Aviation Authority figures, Fly Jinnah carried approximately 1.967 million domestic passengers. Meanwhile, PIA transported around 1.851 million passengers during the same period.
This gave Fly Jinnah a lead of approximately 116,000 passengers over the national carrier. The figures highlight changing competition within Pakistan’s domestic aviation industry.
Airblue secured third position with approximately 1.004 million passengers. AirSial followed with around 813,000 passengers, according to the available figures.
Domestic Airlines Experience Changing Market Shares
Pakistan currently has 37 airlines providing air services across domestic and international routes. These include five domestic operators and 32 international carriers.
The domestic operators include Fly Jinnah, PIA, Airblue, AirSial and South Air. Meanwhile, SereneAir has remained inactive since October 2025.
Fly Jinnah’s latest position reflects its growing presence in Pakistan’s aviation market. However, PIA continues operating domestic and international services despite increased competition.
Foreign Airlines Lead Pakistan’s International Market
Foreign airlines maintain a significant presence in Pakistan’s international passenger market. Emirates holds the largest share, followed by Saudi Arabian Airlines and Qatar Airways.
Emirates operates 39 weekly flights from Pakistan, while Saudi Arabian Airlines operates 30. Qatar Airways runs 28 weekly flights, followed by Etihad Airways with 23.
Pakistan’s international aviation market handles approximately 15 to 16 million passengers annually. Emirates accounts for an estimated 18 to 20 percent of this market.
Foreign airlines collectively receive nearly two-thirds of revenue from international air tickets sold in Pakistan. These figures highlight the strong position of international carriers in the country’s aviation industry.
