Pakistan’s Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir held talks with Saudi Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman in Riyadh.
The meeting focused on recent attacks targeting Makkah and Saudi Arabia’s civilian and economic facilities. Both sides also discussed continued defence cooperation under the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement.
The meeting followed talks among the military chiefs of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye in Riyadh. Those discussions reviewed security threats facing the Kingdom and ways to strengthen cooperation under the agreement.
Asim Munir, Saudi Defence Minister Discuss Makkah Pact
Prince Khalid said Saudi Arabia and Pakistan reaffirmed their continued joint efforts against attacks targeting the Kingdom.
The Saudi defence minister said the two sides discussed attacks targeting Makkah and civilian and economic facilities across Saudi Arabia.
They also welcomed the outcomes of the recent meeting involving chiefs of staff from countries participating in the Makkah agreement.
Both sides stressed the importance of continuing coordinated efforts under the defence framework.
Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye Review Security Threats
The latest meeting came shortly after the military chiefs of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye held talks in Riyadh.
The three military chiefs reviewed the security situation and threats facing Saudi Arabia. They also discussed stronger military coordination and cooperation under the Makkah agreement.
According to Pakistan’s military statement, the participants discussed enhanced intelligence sharing and coordination. They also reviewed ways to integrate military capabilities among the participating countries.
The participants further reaffirmed their commitment to collective defence and cooperation.
Who Attended the Riyadh Meeting?
The Saudi side included Minister of State and National Security Adviser Dr Musaed bin Mohammed Al-Aiban.
Chief of the General Staff General Fayyad bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili also attended the meeting. Adviser to the Defence Minister for Intelligence Affairs Hisham bin Abdulaziz bin Saif was present as well.
Field Marshal Asim Munir was accompanied by a Pakistani delegation during the talks.
The meeting therefore brought together senior officials responsible for defence, security and intelligence matters.
Makkah Joint Defence Agreement Enters Operational Phase
Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye signed the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement in August 2026.
The agreement provides a framework for collective defence cooperation among the three countries. Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry has described the pact as defensive in nature.
It also states that an armed attack against one member would be regarded as an attack against all.
The latest Riyadh meetings indicate that the participating countries are now focusing on practical military coordination.
The three sides have also discussed intelligence sharing, military coordination and integration of capabilities.
With security concerns continuing in the region, the latest talks have placed the Makkah agreement at the centre of defence coordination among Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye.
