Is Nawaz Sharif’s return to power linked to his support from Saudi Arabia, China, UAE and Qatar?

Return to Power

ISLAMABAD: PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif has embarked on a journey to Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, China, and Qatar. He started this four-nation tour before landing in Lahore that aims at his return to power in Pakistan.

The real purpose of Nawaz’s visit to Pakistan’s friendly nations _ KSA, UAE, Qatar, and China is to get their diplomatic, financial, and moral support.

This will give dual support to PML-N leader and his party. First, Nawaz Sharif and his party leaders will use influence of the friendly nations in the upcoming elections and in dealing with the establishment.

Secondly, the financial support from China, KSA, UAE, and Qatar is essential to revive the battered economy of Pakistan.

It is understood that the rulers in Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar and China will not hold direct meetings with Nawaz Sharif as he has been facing cases in courts. PML-N, nonetheless, will take advantage of indirect contacts with rulers in these countries.

At present, a majority of the people are unhappy with the PDM parties especially PML-N as they signed a deal with the IMF that has ruined the business, inflated cost of utilities, and inflation.

It would not be wrong to say that the IMF deal has made miserable the life of masses in the country.

Thus, the PML-N would have to come up with an agenda to win the support of the masses in the country though it appears a challenging task for Nawaz Sharif and his party in the upcoming elections.

Moreover, the recent public rally of PML-N, led by Maryam Nawaz, in Shahdara, adjacent to Lahore, showed a lack of masses’ support for the N-League. PML-N leaders are under an immense pressure after this failed public show near Lahore.

How Nawaz Sharif will win the hearts and minds of millions of people? This is a big question for the PML-N leadership in the prevailing scenario wherein people are annoyed with the party due to unbearable electricity bills.

Nawaz Sharif is scheduled to arrive at Lahore Airport on October 21 at 7:00 pm. He will proceed directly to Minar-e-Pakistan after securing protective bail.

According to party sources, Nawaz Sharif’s protective bail will be formally submitted to the court by October 19.

On October 9, the PML-N leader is scheduled to be in Saudi Arabia four to five days. During his stay, he will undertake Umrah and is likely to engage in meetings with the Saudi Royal family members.

After Saudi Arabia, PML-N leader will travel to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on the 14th.

Subsequently, he is expected to visit Qatar and China. After a brief stay of two days in China and Qatar, he will return to the UAE for a three-day sojourn.

Nawaz Sharif is set to land in Lahore from Dubai at 7:00 pm on October 21.
