Roof Collapses During Class
At least eight children were killed after the roof of a tuition centre collapsed in Lahoreโs Kahna area on Tuesday.
Police confirmed the deaths after rescue teams reached the site and began emergency operations.
According to rescue officials, around 20 to 25 children were inside the tuition centre when the roof came down. One female teacher was also present at the time of the collapse.
The incident caused panic in the area as residents and parents rushed to the scene.
Rescue Teams Search Through Rubble
Rescue officials said five to six children had been pulled from the rubble.
Emergency teams continued searching the debris for more trapped children. Heavy rescue work was underway at the site.
Officials said the condition of rescued children was being assessed. Injured children were being shifted for medical treatment.
The cause of the roof collapse has not yet been confirmed.
Police and rescue teams remained present in the Kahna area as the search operation continued.
