As Eid al-Adha draws near, experts have called upon Muslims to uphold the tenets of Qurbani in earnest and in good faith. They highlight the significance of the act of Qurbani as a form of worship and emphasize the importance of its proper comprehension and faithful execution according to Islam.
It is further noted that there are three crucial conditions for the validity of a sacrifice. Firstly, the sacrificer should be a Muslim himself. Secondly, the name of Allah should be invoked during the act of slaughter, such as “Bismillah Allahu Akbar.” Thirdly, the animal should be slaughtered under the Islamic law by cutting the trachea, oesophagus, and at least two main arteries in the neck.
Spiritual significance of Sunnat-e-Ibrahimi
However, researchers point out that the core of sacrifice involves more than just its materialistic side. The significance of Sunnat-e-Ibrahimi is underscored since it conveys devotion, submission, and obeying the will of God. Hence, Muslims are advised to offer their sacrifices with sincerity.
Furthermore, researchers point out that many individuals consult others on how to perform their sacrifices, such as when choosing healthy animals for the sacrifice. They encourage individuals to follow all instructions and guidelines when selecting and preparing the sacrificial animals; otherwise, the sacrifice may be considered void.
