UAE Deputy PM Meets PM Shehbaz, COAS; Both Sides Vow to Strengthen Ties

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a high-level meeting with the United Arab Emirates’ Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to discuss a wide range of bilateral, regional, and global matters. Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir and Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar also attended the meeting.

During the talks, PM Shehbaz reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong commitment to deepening its fraternal relationship with the UAE—built on mutual respect, shared cultural heritage, and economic interests. He conveyed warm regards for UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and thanked the Emirati leadership for its consistent support across various sectors.

The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation in trade, investment, energy, and people-to-people exchanges. He expressed satisfaction with the current pace of collaboration and reiterated Pakistan’s goal of transforming strong political ties into a robust economic partnership.

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed praised the contributions of the Pakistani diaspora to the UAE’s development and affirmed his country’s desire to expand bilateral cooperation further. He noted the UAE’s interest in exploring new avenues for joint ventures and collaboration.

Key Agreements Signed

Several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were inked during Sheikh Abdullah’s visit, including:

  • Cultural Cooperation: Between Pakistan’s National Heritage & Culture Division and the UAE Ministry of Culture
  • Consular Affairs: Agreement to establish a joint committee between the two foreign ministries
  • Business Collaboration: Formation of a Pakistan-UAE Joint Business Council, signed by the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and UAE’s Chambers of Commerce and Industry

Deputy Prime Ministers Ishaq Dar and Sheikh Abdullah witnessed the signing ceremony and exchanged the signed documents.

Warm Welcome at the Foreign Office

Earlier, Sheikh Abdullah received a warm reception at the Foreign Office, where he was greeted by Ishaq Dar. Dar introduced the visiting dignitary to members of the Pakistani delegation before a formal welcome ceremony took place.

Speaking at the event, Dar emphasized the deep-rooted brotherly ties between Pakistan and the UAE, highlighting ongoing collaborative initiatives and expressing optimism about the future of bilateral relations.

In his remarks, Sheikh Abdullah expressed gratitude for the hospitality and reiterated the UAE’s commitment to strengthening economic and diplomatic engagement with Pakistan, while acknowledging the vital role of the Pakistani community in his country’s growth.
