Relax It: State Bank announces relaxed Ramadan timings for banks in Pakistan

From Monday to Thursday the banks will have working hours from 10:00am to 4:00pm.

The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has announced on Tuesday Ramadan timings for banks, development finance institutions and microfinance banks.

From Monday to Thursday the banks will have working hours from 10:00am to 4:00pm. It added that a prayer break will be given from 2:00pm to 2:15pm during this time, said the statement by the SBP.

For Fridays, the office hours will be from 10.00am to 1:00pm without break.

For public dealing, the SBP said that banks will operate 10:00am to 1:30pm without break.

On the other hand, on Friday’s banking hours for public dealing will be from 10:00am to 1:00pm.

“After the holy month of Ramadan-ul-Mubarak, the above timings will automatically be reverted to pre Ramadan-ul-Mubarak timings,” said the SBP statement.

A day earlier, SBP had announced that it will remain closed for public dealings on the 1st of Ramadan which shall be observed as a “Bank Holiday” for the deduction of Zakat.

“All banks / DFIs / MFBs shall, therefore, remain closed for public dealing on 1st Ramadan-ul-Mubarak, 1442 AH,” a statement from the central bank said.
