Pakistan-Indonesia Economic Partnership Grows through SIFC Initiative

SIFC Initiative

Pakistan and Indonesia, both prominent members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), have reaffirmed their dedication to enhancing collaboration across various sectors, including trade and mutual interests.

This commitment is significantly bolstered by the establishment of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), marking an important milestone in the bilateral relations between these two nations.

A recent highlight in this cooperative effort was the Trade Expo Indonesia, which served as an ideal platform for fostering bilateral relations.

A Pakistani trade delegation actively participated in the expo, leading to the signing of business-to-business agreements and memoranda of understanding totaling an impressive $10.70 million between various Pakistani and Indonesian entities.

These agreements span a diverse array of products and sectors, such as copra, gum, copal, cocoa, dried coconut, ginger, and various spices.

Additionally, deals were finalized in the consumer goods and auto parts industries, showcasing the broad scope of collaboration taking place.

Tego Viveko, Indonesia’s Acting Consul General, commended the active participation of the Pakistani delegation, emphasizing its significance in fortifying economic and trade relations, particularly with the business community in Sindh province.

He noted that such engagements are vital for creating strong partnerships that can lead to mutual growth and prosperity.

Abid Nisar, Chairman of the Pakistan Indonesia Business Council, also expressed optimism regarding the strengthening economic ties between the two countries.

He highlighted that the historical and cultural connections between Pakistan and Indonesia form a solid foundation for their relationship.

According to Nisar, the recent memoranda of understanding will pave the way for mutual economic benefits, fostering prosperity for both nations.

Moreover, as a member of the G20, Indonesia has extended its support to Pakistan by offering to share its experiences and strategies to aid Pakistan in achieving economic stability.

This collaboration under the SIFC is expected to play a pivotal role in facilitating economic initiatives that contribute to the enhancement of Pakistan’s economic landscape, further solidifying the partnership between these two countries.

With ongoing dialogue and cooperation, Pakistan and Indonesia are poised to realize their shared goals and deepen their economic relationship in the years to come.
