Mufti Taqi says all sects want riba-free banking in Pakistan

KARACHI/ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s renowned religious scholar Mufti Taqi Usmani said that all sects in the country want interest-free banking.

Taqi Usmani, who is also Chairman of the Islamic Economic Center, urged the finance minister Ishaq Dar to take more steps to end interest-oriented banking in the country.

Mufti Taqi Usmani stated this today while addressing a seminar in Karachi. He said that he was making efforts to abolish the usury system.

He also said that a unanimous struggle was essential to end the scourge of usury.

Mufti Usmani was of the opinion that all the financial and other institutions must endeavour to implement interest free banking.

The enforcement of Shariah law is the most important matter under Islamic rule of law in Pakistan.

Mufti Usmani emphasized Finance Minister Ishaq Dar take steps that eliminate interest-driven banking in Pakistan.
