Pakistan Railways has temporarily suspended train operations between Lahore and Faisalabad after a bridge suffered major damage between Sheikhupura and Misan Kalar. The disruption has affected several train services as authorities work to assess the situation and restore operations.
Railway officials suspended traffic on the route after the damaged bridge raised safety concerns for passengers and trains. As a result, some trains have been cancelled, while others are operating through alternative routes.
Several Trains Affected Due to Route Changes
Following the suspension, Badr Express and Ghouri Express have been cancelled until further notice. Meanwhile, railway authorities have diverted Shalimar Express and Karakoram Express through the Raiwind-Sahiwal route.
Officials also announced changes for Mianwali Express, which will now operate through Lalamusa. The train service connects Lahore and Mianwali and will follow the alternative route due to the damaged bridge.
Railway authorities are monitoring the situation and working to repair the affected infrastructure. Furthermore, passengers have been advised to check updated schedules before travelling to avoid inconvenience.
Heavy Rains Cause Damage Across Punjab
The railway disruption comes as Punjab continues to face challenges due to heavy rainfall. According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), at least seven people, including two children, died in rain-related incidents across the province within 24 hours.
The heavy downpour also damaged houses and caused livestock losses in several areas.
Authorities have urged citizens to remain cautious during severe weather conditions. Moreover, rescue teams and local administrations continue to monitor vulnerable locations to respond quickly to emergencies.
The damaged bridge and ongoing rainfall situation have created difficulties for transportation and communities across Punjab. Officials are expected to provide further updates once repair work progresses and normal train operations can resume.
