ISLAMABAD: An Islamabad district court granted a two-day physical remand of YouTuber Razi Tahir on Wednesday. The court handed Tahir over to the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA). The case involves controversial tweets regarding Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan. Tahir allegedly posted about a secret meeting between Khan and a former high-ranking personality.
Judicial Magistrate Abbas Shah presided over the high-profile legal hearing. NCCIA officials originally requested a much longer ten-day physical remand for the accused vlogger. Investigators told the court that they need to recover Tahir’s digital equipment. This equipment includes his mobile phones, personal laptops, and other electronic devices. The agency believes these devices contain evidence linked to the controversial social media posts.
Judge Abbas Shah listened to detailed arguments from both the prosecution and defense lawyers. The judge ultimately rejected the agency’s request for a ten-day custody period. Instead, the court approved a shorter two-day physical remand for the investigators.
Magistrate Shah ordered the NCCIA team to produce Tahir in court again on June 26. Authorities arrested the digital content creator one day before this specific court appearance. The arrest happened immediately after a local court dismissed Tahir’s pre-arrest bail application. This legal development has sparked significant interest across Pakistani social media platforms. The agency continues to investigate online defamation and unauthorized leaks involving state figures.
