China continued to lead Pakistan’s import sources in August 2026, with import payments reaching $1.69 billion. The figure increased 12.5% compared with $1.50 billion recorded during August 2025.
According to State Bank of Pakistan data, the United Arab Emirates’ Dubai followed China. Pakistan’s import payments to Dubai reached $626.82 million, up 16.7% from $537.20 million a year earlier.
Singapore and Indonesia Follow
Singapore ranked third among Pakistan’s major import sources during August. Import payments to the country reached $361.67 million.
The figure represented a sharp 65% increase from $219.18 million recorded in August 2025.
Indonesia ranked fourth, although its import payments declined 10.4% year-on-year. Pakistan paid $244.05 million for imports from Indonesia, compared with $272.28 million last year.
Meanwhile, Brazil recorded one of the largest increases among major suppliers. Pakistan’s import payments to Brazil surged 83.7% year-on-year to $240.19 million.
Payments to Saudi Arabia also increased slightly. The figure rose 3.7% to $230.88 million during the month.
Imports From UK and Switzerland Surge
Pakistan’s import payments to the United States increased 9.3% year-on-year. Payments reached $160.30 million compared with $146.59 million in August 2025.
In contrast, payments to Abu Dhabi declined 33.7% to $150.74 million from $227.42 million.
The United Kingdom recorded a major increase during the month. Import payments more than doubled, rising 112.9% to $133.49 million.
Switzerland posted an even sharper increase. Payments surged 253.9% year-on-year to $126.22 million.
Oman also recorded strong growth, with import payments rising 73% to $148.28 million. Japan remained almost unchanged at $147.07 million.
China Leads Despite Monthly Decline
On a month-on-month basis, Pakistan’s import payments from China declined 19.5% in August.
Payments to Indonesia also fell 23.3%, while Saudi Arabia recorded a 12.6% monthly decline. Import payments to the United States dropped sharply by 50.9%.
However, several countries recorded monthly increases. Payments to the United Kingdom climbed 66.8%, while Dubai saw a 26.5% rise.
The latest figures show China maintaining its position as Pakistan’s largest import source. At the same time, significant year-on-year changes emerged across several other major trading partners.
