A 12-year-old boy was buried alive by suspects seeking to silence his family after they reported sexual abuse in Sargodha district.
According to police, the victim, identified as Ghulam Rasool, was missing for 24 hours before he was found buried in the ground in a nearby field.
The boy regained consciousness while still underground, and his cries were heard by farmers working in an adjacent field, who alerted the police.
Rescue workers and police reached the scene and rescue the boy alive. Police rushed him to the DHQ Hospital in Sargodha for adequate treatment.
The family of the boy and police stated that the child had been subjected to sexual abuse by influential individuals in the area a few days before the incident.
When the family lodged a complaint against the accused, the suspects, in retaliation, abducted the boy and buried him alive in an apparent attempt to eliminate the victim and intimidate the family into withdrawing their complaint.
Police have conducted raids to apprehend the suspects, but no arrests have been made at the time of reporting. Further investigations are underway to hold the accused accountable.
