A district court in Chandigarh has summoned Bollywood actor Salman Khan and his sister, Alvira Khan Agnihotri, to appear on October 5 in connection with an alleged financial fraud involving a Being Human Jewellery showroom.
The summons follows a criminal complaint filed by Chandigarh-based businessman Arun Gupta. He has alleged cheating and criminal breach of trust in a dispute linked to the brand’s jewellery business.
According to Indian media reports, the case has been pending since 2021. However, it has now entered the judicial trial stage, prompting the court to summon all named individuals, including company directors.
Gupta claimed he launched an exclusive Being Human Jewellery showroom in 2018 after company representatives approached him with a franchise proposal. Consequently, he invested between Rs2 crore and Rs3 crore in establishing the business.
According to the complaint, the company promised operational and marketing support, regular jewellery supplies, and promotional activities. It also allegedly assured that Salman Khan would inaugurate the showroom.
However, Gupta alleged that none of those commitments were fulfilled. Instead, actor Aayush Sharma, Salman Khan’s brother-in-law, attended the inauguration ceremony.
The complainant further claimed that jewellery supplies later became irregular and the liaison office handling the business was shut down. Moreover, he alleged that repeated written requests and attempts to resolve the matter received no satisfactory response.
Gupta said the continuing losses eventually forced him to close the showroom. Therefore, he sought legal action against those named in the complaint.
The court has directed Salman Khan, Alvira Khan Agnihotri, and the other accused to appear on October 5 for further proceedings. The allegations remain subject to judicial determination, and the accused will have the opportunity to present their defence before the court.
