Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf has joined Adelaide Strikers for the upcoming Big Bash League (BBL) 16 season. The signing ends his five-season association with Melbourne Stars, where he established himself as one of the competition’s leading fast bowlers.
Rauf will represent Adelaide throughout the tournament, joining England’s Ben Stokes and New Zealand’s Mark Chapman as the team’s overseas players.
Rauf Brings Strong Big Bash Record
The 32-year-old pacer played 33 matches for Melbourne Stars and claimed 56 wickets. He made an immediate impact during his first BBL season, taking 20 wickets. He also recorded a memorable hat-trick against Sydney Thunder.
During BBL 14, Rauf earned another place in the tournament’s Team of the Tournament after taking 18 wickets.
Last season, he claimed 20 wickets and shared the competition’s Golden Arm award with Gurinder Sandhu.
Adelaide Strikers Welcome Pakistan Pacer
Adelaide Strikers head coach Tim Paine welcomed Rauf’s arrival, highlighting his pace, experience and match-winning ability.
Paine said the Pakistani fast bowler could make a major impact at Adelaide Oval.
Meanwhile, Rauf expressed excitement about joining the franchise and playing alongside international stars.
He also said he looked forward to contributing to the team’s campaign and helping them compete for the championship.
Rauf Set for December Debut
Rauf is scheduled to make his Adelaide Strikers debut against Sydney Thunder on December 16 in Canberra. The team will also face his former franchise, Melbourne Stars, on December 18 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
His move adds international experience and pace to Adelaide’s bowling attack ahead of the new Big Bash campaign.
