Commercial banks across Pakistan will extend their working hours on September 30 to help taxpayers complete government payments.
All commercial bank branches will remain open until 10 PM on Wednesday, September 30, 2026. The extended hours will facilitate over-the-counter payments of government duties and taxes.
The decision follows a request from the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR). The arrangement aims to give taxpayers additional time to meet their payment obligations before the deadline.
Banks Extend Working Hours for Tax Payments
Under the special arrangement, commercial bank branches will continue handling over-the-counter government payments until 10 PM.
The extended hours are intended to make it easier for taxpayers to deposit government duties and taxes. Therefore, taxpayers who need to make physical payments can use the additional banking hours.
Banks have also been advised to keep relevant branches open on September 30 for as long as necessary.
This arrangement will support special clearing of government transactions conducted through the National Institutional Facilitation Technologies (NIFT).
Digital Payment Channels to Remain Available
The banking arrangements will not be limited to over-the-counter payments. Commercial banks have also been directed to maintain uninterrupted digital payment services.
These services include internet banking, mobile banking applications and ATMs. Other available online payment platforms will likewise remain accessible.
As a result, taxpayers can use digital channels alongside physical bank branches to complete their government payments.
Special Arrangements for September 30
The extended banking hours and digital payment arrangements are specifically intended to facilitate government duty and tax payments on September 30.
Banks will therefore support taxpayers through both over-the-counter and digital channels during the extended payment period.
The additional arrangements follow the FBR’s request to facilitate taxpayers and help them meet their payment obligations.
With branches operating until 10 PM, taxpayers will have extra time to complete payments through physical banking channels. Meanwhile, digital services will continue providing another option for those making government payments online.
