Chief of Army Staff General Munir visits South Waziristan and vows to hunt down terrorists

ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir visited the Sherwangi area near Asman Manza in South Waziristan district, where six soldiers had embraced martyrdom on Tuesday while fighting against terrorists.

Upon arriving, the COAS received a detailed briefing on the prevailing security situation, including the ongoing intelligence and counter-terrorism operations.

The army chief engaged with officers and troops deployed in the area, appreciating their unwavering determination in combating the menace of terrorism.

He also said that the martyrs were a source of pride for the nation, and their sacrifices would not be in vain until complete peace and stability returned to Pakistan.

General Munir emphasized that the military would relentlessly pursue terrorists, their affiliates, and collaborators who aim to destabilize Pakistan on behalf of hostile elements until they surrender to the state of Pakistan.

Upon his arrival, the Peshawar corps commander welcomed the COAS.

Meanwhile, the ISPR stressed that Pakistan’s armed forces remain dedicated to eliminating the terrorism threat, and the sacrifices of our brave soldiers strengthen our resolve even more.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) issued a statement indicating that an exchange of fire occurred between Pakistan Army troops and terrorists within the vicinity of Asman Manza in the South Waziristan district.

The army troops engaged the terrorists, resulting in the death of four terrorists and the injury of two.

However, during a fierce exchange of gunfire, six soldiers who had displayed bravery tragically lost their lives.

The military’s media wing added that a thorough operation is underway to eliminate any other terrorists present in the area.

The ISPR stressed that Pakistan’s armed forces remain dedicated to eliminating the terrorism threat, and the sacrifices of our brave soldiers strengthen our resolve even more.
