ISLAMABAD: Addressing participants of the annual internship program at General Headquarters, Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir (COAS) expressed his sorrow and deep concern regarding the Jaranwala incident.
The COAS emphasized that individuals displaying such intolerant and extreme behavior have no place within society.
He underlined that acts of intolerance and extremism, such as the Jaranwala incident, are not acceptable.
General Munir reiterated the principle of equality among all citizens, regardless of religion, gender, caste, or creed. He firmly stated that no one would be permitted to take the law into their own hands, and those found guilty of such crimes would be brought to justice.
The Army’s top leader highlighted the significance of youth in the nation’s progress and development. He emphasized that the youth is the future of Pakistan and can contribute significantly to peace, development, and prosperity.
General Munir also exposed the efforts of hostile forces attempting to create chaos and unrest in the country. He praised the young interns for successfully completing the program, acknowledging their commitment and dedication.
Earlier, political leaders and representatives from civil society condemned the incident in which churches were set on fire in Jaranwala Tehsil of Faisalabad due to alleged blasphemy accusations.
Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar ul Haq Kakar denounced the incident, expressing his distress over the disturbing visuals from Jaranwala. He asserted that stringent action would be taken against those violating the law and targeting minority communities. Kakar assured the public that law enforcement agencies were directed to apprehend the culprits and ensure justice, reiterating the government’s unwavering support for all citizens.
