Globally, 1.3 million people die in road accidents in a year while 20 to 50 million suffer injuries.

Therefore, the term road safety has become a need of the day, more so during the last decade and a half, when car crashes were observed by the United Nations as a major threat to human mortality and serious injuries.

Roads have been recognized as one of the most pivotal contributors to the development of a country leading to economic growth by stimulating trade, and commerce, benefiting the societies in creating and generating livelihood in general, and reducing poverty.

Roads are the most common means to travel for people, be it for family, going to work, hauling goods, or tourism, all demand safety for passengers traveling.

This results in requirements for institutional traffic management _ law enforcement, responsible-safer road user, safer road infrastructure design, and mandatory safety features for vehicles and safer passenger public mobility.

It is pertinent to mention here the significant role of the First Responder in a post-crash response.

With the increase in the number of vehicles, traffic volumes on roads have increased. This brings forward road hazards in various forms for road users for a possible cause to an untoward situation resulting in road traffic crash victims that become a drain on public health systems as well as an economic liability on personal incomes with breadwinners unable to work, and potentially increasing the levels of poverty in low income and middle-income countries.
