Pakistan ranked 140th in corruption Perception index during PTI’s govt

ISLAMABAD: The Transparency International’s Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) today ranked Pakistan on the 140th position in the list of most corrupt countries in world.

In the Corruption Perception Index, Pakistan dropped 16 places in 2021, compared to the previous year with ranking of 140 out of 180 countries.

The 2021 edition of the CPI ranked 180 countries with their perceived levels of public sector corruption, drawing on 13 expert assessments and surveys of business executives.

In 2020, Pakistan’s CPI was 31 and it was ranked 124 out of 180 countries.

This corruption index for 2021 showed that corruption fell during PTI government with a stunning decline in country’s index to the lowest of 27 points _ out of 100 after a decade.

The The Corruption Perception Index of the Transparency International ranked 180 countries globally with their perceived levels of public sector corruption.

According to the index, Pakistan’s ranking improved to 140 among the world’s most corrupt nations. It showed corruption fell during the regime of the PTI led by Imran Khan.

During Khan’s regime, the corruption score declined from 33 to 27, the lowest after a decade.

The TI had reported a similar corruption index of 27 during Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) regime in 2012.
