Pakistan’s Airports Are Being Outsourced, Not Privatized: Minister

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Aviation and Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique said the national airports will be outsourced soon.

He said that the government will not privatize the national airports.

Minister turned down the propaganda of airports privatization and said the government has decided only the outsourcing the administrative affairs of three main airports.

He said that airport’s outsourcing will attract foreign direct investment (FDI). Federal Minister also cited cited examples of airports in India, Saudi Arabia and the US which have been outsourced for attracting investments.

Meanwhile, he said the the government will revive the international routes of the Pakistan International Airline.

Minister also discussed the upgradation plans of A320 and Boing-777 aircraft. He also said that more comfortable seats will be installed in the passengers’ aircraft by March this year.

He said that PIA is negotiation different proposals with the Emirates for improving and upgradation of services of the national flag carrier.

Minister said that efforts are underway to make PIA and Pakistan Railways profit-oriented public entities.
