Cold and dry weather blankets most parts of the country

Cold and dry weather is expected in most parts of Pakistan, with extreme cold in the upper regions and north Balochistan.

Dense fog is expected to form in the plains of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and upper Sindh.

Frost is expected in the Pothohar region early in the morning, and cold, dry weather is expected elsewhere in Quetta.

In Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Met Office predicts very cold and dry weather for Srinagar, Jammu, Leh, Pulwama, Anantnag, Shopian, and Barmula.

Due to heavy fog, several highways and motorways remained closed in many areas of Punjab.

Due to heavy fog, many trains were delayed for hours.

Flight schedules were also significantly impacted by cold weather and dense fog.

The Lahore Multan Motorway from Faizpur to Nankana Sahib, the M2 Motorway from Lahore to Kot Momin, and the Lahore Sialkot Motorway from Lahore to Sambaryal remained closed for traffic.

A Motorways spokesperson advised drivers to avoid unnecessary travel, use fog lights on their vehicles, and call helpline 130 for assistance.

Flights Delayed, Traffic Affected As Fog Engulfs Karachi

Different areas of the city were engulfed in dense fog, affecting the flow of traffic and delaying flights at the Jinnah International Airport. 

The fog made life difficult for the commuters travelling to offices and schools.

The city’s Orangi Town, Malir, North Nazimabad, and surrounding areas were engulfed with heavy fog. Traffic on Super Highway Link Road and in nearby areas was also affected due to low visibility. 

Flights delayed

Several flights at the Jinnah International Airport were delayed due to the fog. 

CAA officials said flight operations would be fully restored when the fog subsides.
