Islamabad police have rescued a foreign national who was allegedly abducted for a $100,000 ransom.
The incident took place earlier in the morning when armed suspects allegedly abducted the foreign national from Sector G-8. The abductors then demanded $100,000 for his release.
Following the incident, SSP Operations Qazi Ali Raza took immediate notice. He ordered the formation of special police teams to trace the victim and suspects.
Foreign National Recovered in Sihala
Police teams used technical resources and human intelligence to locate the abducted foreign national. Subsequently, officers conducted an intelligence-based operation within the Sihala Police Station jurisdiction.
The operation ended with the safe recovery of the foreign national. Meanwhile, police arrested nine suspects allegedly involved in the kidnapping.
Authorities also recovered three vehicles allegedly used during the crime. In addition, police recovered cash and mobile phones taken during the incident.
Suspects Accused of Further Robberies
Police said the suspects allegedly targeted other staff members during the incident. They reportedly took cash, mobile phones and other valuables from them.
The arrests have now opened the way for further investigation into the alleged kidnapping and related robberies. Police are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Police Promise Strict Legal Action
SSP Operations Qazi Ali Raza said strict legal action would follow against those who threaten citizens and foreign nationals.
He further said suspects involved in the serious offence of kidnapping for ransom would face justice under the law.
The investigation remains underway as police work to establish the full circumstances of the alleged abduction and identify the role of each suspect.
