A Lahore man was arrested for allegedly staging his own kidnapping and demanding Rs1.5 million from his in-laws.
The suspect, identified as Taimur, reportedly fabricated the kidnapping to obtain money from his wife’s family. According to the Lahore DIG Operations spokesperson, Taimur lives in the Manawan area of Lahore.
He allegedly sent his wife videos showing himself tied up with ropes during the staged kidnapping. He also reportedly conveyed a ransom demand of Rs1.5 million, claiming kidnappers were demanding the money.
The unusual claim prompted his wife to approach police and report the alleged kidnapping.
Police Investigate Reported Kidnapping
Following the woman’s complaint, police registered a case and launched an investigation into the reported kidnapping.
Investigators examined the circumstances surrounding the alleged abduction and began tracing the suspect. The investigation eventually led police to Faisalabad, where authorities arrested Taimur.
The arrest reportedly revealed that the kidnapping had allegedly been fabricated rather than carried out by unknown abductors.
Police subsequently questioned the suspect about the circumstances surrounding the alleged kidnapping.
Suspect Allegedly Wanted Money From In-Laws
During the initial investigation, Taimur allegedly admitted that he wanted to obtain money from his in-laws.
According to officials, he therefore fabricated the kidnapping and created the appearance that he had been abducted.
The videos showing him tied with ropes were reportedly part of the alleged plan to convince his wife. The reported ransom demand was intended to make the alleged kidnapping appear genuine.
However, the police investigation eventually led authorities to the suspect in Faisalabad.
Investigation Continues
Following his arrest, the suspect was handed over to the Investigation Wing for further investigation.
Authorities will now proceed with the legal process and examine the circumstances surrounding the alleged fraud.
The case highlights how an apparently serious kidnapping claim can sometimes take an unexpected turn during a police investigation.
For now, the allegations against Taimur remain under investigation as authorities continue examining the case.
