Former National Accountability Bureau (NAB) additional director Ziaullah Khan Toru has been arrested after an Islamabad court rejected his pre-arrest bail application. The case involves allegations of fake degrees, misuse of official authority, fraud and unlawful financial gains.
Special Judge Humayun Dilawar of the Central Anti-Corruption Court dismissed Toru’s bail plea. The Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Anti-Corruption Circle in Islamabad registered the case against him.
However, the allegations remain unproven, and the accused will have the opportunity to contest them through legal proceedings.
What Are the Allegations Against Ziaullah Khan Toru?
According to the first information report (FIR), Toru allegedly misused his official position while working at NAB. Investigators have accused him of fraud and accumulating assets beyond his known sources of income.
The case also raises questions about his alleged business interests and mining activities. The FIR claims that Toru established Universal Mining (Private) Limited in 2012, partnering with Chinese nationals.
Furthermore, investigators allege that he established Pakhtunkhwa Mines in his wife’s name. The company allegedly obtained mining leases in North Waziristan.
These allegations form part of the investigation into his financial dealings and alleged misuse of authority.
Fake MBA Degrees and Alleged Misuse of Office
The case also includes allegations concerning Toru’s educational credentials. According to the FIR, he allegedly submitted fake MBA degrees from Preston University and Karachi to secure employment.
Investigators have also accused him of exploiting his official position for financial benefits. The allegations involve suspected fraud, forgery and corruption, making the case a serious legal matter.
The proceedings will determine whether the accusations have sufficient evidence to support criminal liability. Meanwhile, the claims detailed in the FIR remain allegations rather than established findings.
Court Rejects Pre-Arrest Bail Application
The Islamabad court’s decision to dismiss Toru’s pre-arrest bail application preceded his arrest. The case was registered by the FIA’s Anti-Corruption Circle, which is handling the allegations.
The legal proceedings concern several alleged offences involving financial irregularities, forged documents and misuse of office. However, the court’s rejection of pre-arrest bail does not, by itself, establish guilt.
Toru’s case will now proceed through the relevant legal process, where the allegations and supporting evidence can face judicial scrutiny.
All allegations against the former NAB official remain subject to trial, and he retains the right to defend himself in court.
