Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is gradually increasing its UK flight operations, with new aircraft arrivals and additional routes planned. The expansion includes the introduction of Boeing 787 aircraft and a new Lahore-Birmingham service, offering passengers more travel options.
PIA Adds Boeing 787 Aircraft to Its Fleet
PIA has added a new Boeing 787 to its fleet as the airline moves to expand its international operations. The aircraft is scheduled to arrive at Islamabad International Airport from London on October 31.
Meanwhile, another Boeing 787 will land at Lahore airport from Birmingham on November 1. These scheduled arrivals mark another development in the airline’s efforts to strengthen its UK connections.
Lahore-Birmingham Flights to Begin in December
PIA plans to launch flights between Lahore and Birmingham from December 1. The airline will operate the service three days a week, creating another direct travel option between Pakistan and the UK.
The new route will also expand PIA’s connections beyond its existing London services. However, the announced schedule does not specify flight timings or additional operational details.
London Connections Reach Seven Flights Weekly
PIA currently operates flights from different Pakistani cities to London, with services running seven times a week. The airline is gradually building its UK network as it introduces aircraft and prepares additional services.
Consequently, the planned Lahore-Birmingham flights could further broaden its international route offerings. The expansion comes as PIA pursues changes following its privatization.
PIA’s Expansion After Privatization
A consortium led by Arif Habib Corporation took charge of PIA on June 29, 2026, following the airline’s privatization.
Since then, the airline has been taking steps to develop its operations and strengthen international connectivity. Its growing UK flight schedule reflects the latest developments in that process.
With the planned Boeing 787 arrivals and the upcoming Birmingham service, PIA is gradually widening its UK operations. The expansion will give travellers additional route options as the airline develops its international network.
