Actress Recalls Awkward First Interaction With Bollywood Star
MUMBAI: Actress Preity Zinta has recalled an amusing early interaction with Sunny Deol during an appearance on Kaun Banega Crorepati 18.
Zinta appeared on the show alongside Sunny Deol and Aamir Khan to promote their upcoming film Batwara 1947.
She revealed that Sunny once shouted at her after she called the Deol family home late at night.
Zinta explained that she was close friends with Bobby Deol before their acting careers began. She often travelled with him and his friends in his van.
However, personal mobile phones were not common at the time. Therefore, Zinta called the familyโs landline one night to speak with Bobby.
Sunny Deol Answers Late-Night Call
Instead of Bobby, Sunny answered the phone. Zinta said she immediately realised her mistake when the senior actor questioned her decision to call so late.
Sunny explained that he remained strict with Bobby and treated his younger brother almost like a son.
He said the family did not allow Bobby to go out after 8pm. However, Bobby often found ways to avoid the restrictions.
Zinta admitted that she initially felt nervous around Sunny. However, working with him over several films eventually made their relationship more comfortable.
Meanwhile, the two actors are preparing to appear together again in Batwara 1947. The film marks Zintaโs Bollywood comeback.
The movie will release on August 14. It follows a family seeking refuge in an abandoned house in Lahore after Partition.
The family discovers a Hindu woman hiding inside and decides to protect her amid the violence and chaos surrounding the historic division.
