Veteran Pakistani actress and filmmaker Sangeeta has revealed the reason behind actress Naeema Butt’s exit from her upcoming film Mukho. The director said the decision came after what she described as “unprofessional behavior” during the early production phase.
In a recent interview, Sangeeta explained that Naeema was initially selected for an important role in the film. She also received an advance payment after joining the project.
However, Sangeeta said she later removed the actress after disagreements over creative decisions, including suggestions about casting choices.
Sangeeta Shares Details About Casting Decision
Recalling the situation, Sangeeta said, “She was initially cast, but I am not the kind of director who tolerates tantrums. She started suggesting who should be cast as the hero and who else should be included. I told her, ‘Please excuse me and return my advance payment.’ She returned the advance.”
The filmmaker further explained that she has spent nearly five decades in Pakistan’s entertainment industry. Therefore, she believes major creative decisions should remain with the director.
Sangeeta added, “She is still new to the industry, whereas I have spent 50 years here. It is not possible for someone new to advise me on casting. She should continue doing dramas. It was a great opportunity and the role was excellent, but I removed her because of her attitude.”
Social Media Users Share Mixed Reactions
Sangeeta’s comments quickly gained attention on social media. Fans shared different opinions about the controversy surrounding Naeema Butt’s removal from the project.
Some users supported Sangeeta and praised her experience in the entertainment industry. They believed the director had the authority to make final decisions about her film.
However, others defended Naeema Butt and questioned whether creative suggestions should be considered unprofessional.
One user commented, “You’re used to working with people like Meera. Today’s actresses are educated.”
Another wrote, “Why is giving feedback and suggestions being termed as ‘nakhra’?”
A third user added, “Sounds like you have an ego problem.”
