Pakistani actress Mishi Khan has criticised comedian and television host Tabish Hashmi over a promotional campaign involving the sensitive Kashmir issue. She accused the comedian and his team of using public emotions to attract attention to his show, Hasna Mana Hai.
Mishi shared a video on Instagram and directly questioned the marketing strategy behind the campaign. She argued that sensitive national issues should not become tools for entertainment publicity. The actress also criticised the way Tabish’s posts created speculation about possible consequences. According to her, the campaign appeared designed to make the show trend after a change to its set.
Mishi Khan Calls Out Tabish Hashmi
Mishi did not hold back while discussing the controversy. She strongly objected to what she described as an inappropriate publicity strategy.
“Shame on such a mentality where you use such a sensitive issue for your show’s publicity. Shame on you and your team’s mentality.”
She further questioned the decision to connect a serious national issue with entertainment promotion. Moreover, she suggested that the campaign intentionally created suspense around Tabish’s future.
Mishi also referred to Tabish’s earlier video about Kashmir. She said his statement about facing possible consequences encouraged viewers to believe that something serious had happened.
However, the situation later took a different turn.
Tabish Hashmi Explains the Viral Posts
The controversy started after Tabish shared a video discussing the Kashmir issue. He ended the video by saying, “I don’t know what the consequences of this will be,” which quickly raised concerns among viewers.
A day later, Tabish posted a farewell-style message related to Hasna Mana Hai. The message led many people to speculate that the programme could be ending or facing restrictions.
However, Tabish later clarified that the show was not ending. Instead, he explained that the farewell-style post referred to a new set for the programme.
He also said the post was intended as a prank. Nevertheless, his clarification failed to stop the criticism surrounding the campaign.
Social Media Users Join the Debate
The controversy quickly moved beyond the entertainment industry. Several social media users accused Tabish of using people’s emotions to promote his programme.
One user commented, “So he used Kashmir and people’s emotions to promote his lewd crass show? That was a low blow Tabish! Do better.”
Meanwhile, Mishi received considerable support after sharing her criticism. Many followers praised her for addressing the issue publicly.
One follower wrote, “Hatts off Mishi Khan, always speak up the truth,” while others agreed with her concerns.
The controversy highlights the risks celebrities face when marketing campaigns involve emotionally charged subjects. While humour and publicity can generate attention, audiences may react strongly when campaigns appear to blur the line between entertainment and serious national issues.
For now, the debate continues online. Mishi’s criticism has added another layer to the controversy, while Tabish’s explanation has not fully convinced everyone. The incident also raises a broader question for public figures:
how far should entertainment marketing go when it involves issues that carry deep emotional and national significance?
