A court in Seoul has sentenced a Brazilian woman to one year in prison, suspended for two years, after finding her guilty of repeatedly stalking BTS member Jungkook and unlawfully visiting his residence despite repeated warnings from authorities.
According to court documents, the unidentified woman first visited Jungkook’s home in December, where she lingered outside the property, threw objects over the fence, and attempted to insert letters and photographs through gaps in the door, claiming her actions were an expression of “love.”
A few days later, she returned to the residence and rang the doorbell 133 times. The court described her behaviour as demonstrating “extreme obsession and abnormal attachment.”
The woman was arrested on December 13 after she attempted to enter the property through a side gate by following a food delivery rider. Although she was released the following day and formally warned to stay away from the singer’s home, she continued to violate the order.
Police said the woman approached Jungkook’s residence a total of 22 times before prosecutors brought the case to court.
While handing down the sentence, the court acknowledged that the defendant’s risk of reoffending appeared to be low but ruled that her conduct was “highly intrusive and unacceptable.”
Authorities said that if her appeal is unsuccessful, the woman could also face deportation from South Korea.
The case follows a similar incident last year in which a Chinese woman was arrested after attempting to enter Jungkook’s home just hours after the BTS singer completed his mandatory military service.
