Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar held a series of bilateral meetings with foreign officials during the SCO Council of Heads of State meeting in Bishkek. Dar met Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and discussed several matters of mutual interest. Their talks included preparations for the 2026 United Nations General Assembly in New York.
The two officials also discussed the ongoing process to elect the next United Nations secretary-general. They reaffirmed the importance of Pakistan and Chinaโs All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership.
Dar Discusses Regional Issues With Foreign Officials
Dar also held cordial interactions with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
He separately met Tajik Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin and Kazakhstanโs Foreign Minister Yermek Kosherbayev. During these engagements, the officials exchanged views on regional developments and matters of mutual interest.
Furthermore, Dar met Tรผrkiyeโs National Intelligence Organization (MฤฐT) Director ฤฐbrahim Kalฤฑn.
Their discussion covered regional developments and security-related matters. They also exchanged views on the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement and the inaugural meeting of its Strategic Political and Defence Committee.
Dar stressed the importance of continued diplomatic engagement and coordination. He said such efforts remain important for promoting regional peace, security, and stability.
Pakistan Strengthens Ties With Azerbaijan and Central Asia
Dar also met Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov during the SCO gathering.
Both sides reaffirmed the strong bonds of friendship and brotherhood between Pakistan and Azerbaijan. They also expressed their commitment to further expanding bilateral cooperation.
The two foreign ministers discussed regional and international developments as well as other matters of mutual interest.
Meanwhile, Dar held a separate pull-aside meeting with Tajik Foreign Minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin. They reviewed bilateral relations and regional developments while reaffirming the close ties between Pakistan and Tajikistan.
Dar also met Uzbek Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov. The two officials reaffirmed the growing Pakistan-Uzbekistan partnership and discussed ways to expand cooperation across areas of mutual interest.
Pakistan, Armenia Mark First Year of Diplomatic Relations
Dar further held a pull-aside meeting with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan.
The meeting came as Pakistan and Armenia marked the first anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations. Both ministers reaffirmed their commitment to building on the positive momentum in bilateral ties. They also exchanged views on regional and international developments of mutual interest.
Overall, Darโs meetings on the SCO sidelines provided opportunities to strengthen Pakistanโs diplomatic engagement with China, Russia, Central Asian states, Tรผrkiye, Azerbaijan, Armenia, and other regional partners.
