Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Najiha Alvi has been ruled out of the ACC Women’s T20 Asia Cup after suffering a knee injury. Right-handed batter Sadaf Shamas has been called up as her replacement for the upcoming tournament. The change comes just days before Pakistan begin their Asia Cup campaign in Dubai.
Najiha reported pain in her posterior left knee, prompting the Pakistan Cricket Board’s medical team to arrange further assessment. Scans later indicated a possible sprain.
Najiha Alvi Begins Rehabilitation
Following an assessment by the PCB medical team, Najiha will immediately begin her rehabilitation programme.
Her recovery is expected to take up to four weeks. As a result, she will miss Pakistan’s campaign at the continental T20 tournament.
The injury is a setback for Pakistan, as Najiha was included in the squad for the competition. The team will now rely on Sadaf Shamas to fill the vacant position.
The national women’s selection committee confirmed Sadaf’s inclusion in the Asia Cup squad.
