ISLAMABAD: PTI founder and former prime minister Imran Khan has received eight books in Adiala Jail after directions from the Islamabad High Court.
The jail administration submitted a compliance report to the IHC on Tuesday. The report confirmed that authorities delivered all eight books to Khan.
Adiala Jail Deputy Superintendent Subtain Raza Virk submitted the report regarding the books.
According to the document, the jail authorities received the books from the Islamabad High Court on August 6, 2026. Officials then arranged their delivery to Imran Khan.
Eight Books Delivered to Imran Khan
The collection included books covering religion, history, Islamic civilisation, philosophy and leadership.
The eight books provided to Khan were:
- The Reconstruction of Religious Thought in Islam by Muhammad Iqbal
- Prayer (According to the Sunnah) by Abdul Malik Mujahid and Muhammad Zulfiqar
- Saladin by John Man
- Misquoting Muhammad: The Challenge and Choices of Interpreting the Prophet’s Legacy by Jonathan A.C. Brown
- New State
- Iqbal and the Sages of the East by Prof Dr Waheed-uz-Zaman Tariq
- Art & Science: Civilization in Islam by Seyyed Hossein Nasr
- Prophet Muhammad as a Military Leader and Commander by Afzalur Rahman
The jail official said authorities delivered all eight books to the PTI founder.
Imran Khan Chooses Four Books
After receiving the books, Imran Khan selected four titles that he wanted to read.
His chosen books were New State, Iqbal and the Sages of the East, Art & Science: Civilization in Islam, and Prophet Muhammad as a Military Leader and Commander.
Meanwhile, Khan returned the other four books to the jail authorities.
According to the compliance report, he said he had already read the returned titles. He also told authorities that he already had copies of those books.
The returned books included The Reconstruction of Religious Thought in Islam, Prayer (According to the Sunnah), Saladin and Misquoting Muhammad.
Jail Submits Compliance Report to IHC
The Deputy Superintendent submitted the report to the Islamabad High Court to confirm that the court’s directions had been followed.
The report therefore provided the court with a formal update on the delivery and handling of the books.
The development also highlights the court’s involvement in ensuring access to reading material for the PTI founder during his detention.
With all eight books delivered and four selected for reading, the jail administration has now informed the court that the relevant directions have been fulfilled.
The selected titles cover themes ranging from Islamic civilisation and philosophy to leadership and political thought. Khan’s choice therefore reflects a varied reading list during his time at Adiala Jail.
