South Air is set to expand its domestic operations with three new routes connecting major cities across Pakistan.
The airline has received approval to operate flights between Peshawar and Quetta, as well as Peshawar and Lahore. It has also announced a new service connecting Islamabad with Multan. The new routes will give passengers more domestic travel options. Moreover, they are expected to improve air connectivity between important commercial and regional centres.
The launch of the Peshawar routes has received a positive response from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa officials. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi welcomed the approval for South Air’s new Peshawar services. He also thanked the Pakistan Aviation Authority for approving the airline’s operations.
Kundi said he had requested South Air to introduce the Peshawar-Quetta and Peshawar-Lahore services. He appreciated the airline for responding to the request and expanding its network.
New Flights Could Boost Regional Connectivity
According to Kundi, the new flights will make air travel easier for residents of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He said improved air connectivity could also support regional trade and tourism. Additionally, more flight options could make travel between major cities more convenient for passengers.
The Peshawar-Quetta and Peshawar-Lahore routes will connect the provincial capital with two important urban centres. Meanwhile, the Islamabad-Multan service will provide another direct domestic travel option.
South Air is also planning to expand its operations to additional airports in the future.
South Air Plans Dera Ismail Khan and Chitral Flights
Kundi said South Air plans to launch flights from Dera Ismail Khan and Chitral airports. According to the governor, the airline has assured him that services from both airports will begin after it inducts new aircraft into its fleet.
The planned expansion could further improve air access for residents of areas with fewer flight connections. It could also support tourism by making destinations such as Chitral easier to reach. For South Air, the latest route additions represent an expansion of its presence in Pakistan’s domestic aviation market.
With three new services planned and additional destinations under consideration, the airline is gradually broadening its domestic network. The expansion could provide passengers with more convenient alternatives for travelling between key cities and underserved regions.
