Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry will hold an important press conference in Rawalpindi today. The briefing is scheduled to begin at 5pm, with the military’s media wing expected to address journalists on important national and security matters.
The press conference comes as security forces continue intelligence-based operations against militant groups in different parts of the country.
Six Terrorists Killed in Kachhi Operation
Security forces killed six terrorists during an intelligence-based operation in Balochistan’s Kachhi district.
According to security sources cited by local media, the operation targeted militants described as belonging to Fitna al-Hindustan.
The terrorists were reportedly targeted using quadcopters. Security forces also recovered a large quantity of weapons and ammunition from the area.
Meanwhile, a clearance operation remains underway to search the area and identify any remaining militant presence.
Hideouts and Tunnels Destroyed in North Waziristan
Separately, security forces conducted another intelligence-based operation in North Waziristan.
Several militant hideouts and tunnels were destroyed during the operation. Security sources also reported the recovery of a significant quantity of explosive material.
Several militants were reportedly killed, although authorities did not immediately provide an exact figure.
The recovered explosives were subsequently neutralised with assistance from the Bomb Disposal Squad.
DG ISPR Briefing Comes Amid Security Operations
The upcoming press conference will take place against the backdrop of continued counterterrorism operations across Pakistan.
Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has previously addressed the country’s security situation and counterterrorism efforts during several press briefings this year.
In his recent public remarks, he has discussed security threats, regional developments and Pakistan’s ongoing efforts against militant groups.
